Rites and Sacraments

Baptisms

Normally, the Sacrament of Holy Baptism is administered during the Sunday Eucharist. Although we baptize on any Sunday, especially appropriate days for Holy Baptism are the Easter Vigil, Pentecost, Epiphany, and All Saints' Sunday.

The Rector will be more than happy to discuss these provisions in detail.

Confirmations

Adults and youth who have been baptized are presented to the Bishop for confirmation after a time of study and formation.

Reception

Baptized persons who have made an adult profession of faith in any Christian church are received into this church rather than confirmed.

Weddings

Weddings may be scheduled at any time, except during Lent, through the Rector who must be consulted before public announcement of weddings and before dates are fixed. The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is solemnized according to the Prayer Book Rite. At least one of the parties of the proposed marriage must be a Communicant of St. Andrew’s or another Episcopal parish.

Funerals

The funerals of Communicants are held in the Church. Only flowers at the altar and figure of Mary are permitted. St. Andrew’s has a columbarium and also has plans for a Memorial Garden in the churchyard. The Rector will be happy to furnish additional information.

All donations and honoraria received from these ministries are placed in the Rector's Discretionary Fund and are used as alms for those in need.
